Less bad

12.14 pm The Syrian bombing has been and gone with fingers crossed that it was a gesture rather than a preliminary to further conflict. US futures are higher and the Aussie index has climbed 26 points.
Large cap longs in CSL and CSR are up a bit while LNK is flat. NXT has eased 9 cents after Friday's surge but looks to have tested lows for the day. The small caps have done nothing overall.

2.14 pm Most of the early gains have evaporated as Chinese markets are lower by about 1.5% though Japan is flat to up. US futures are off their highs but firm. The ASX 200 made a minor new high before dropping off in regards to this swing higher that started two weeks ago. I think it can get to 5900 before hitting serious resistance but the momentum and enthusiasm is poor so it's time to be selective.

4.35 pm I sold out of CSL and CSR for good gains, kept NXT and LNK as they finished well
and added a new long in MQA. Macquarie Atlas will be renamed soon as they have agreed with Macquarie to move to independent and cheaper management. The stock surged on the news and resumed today after a 3 day pullback. Long at 596.
The small caps were slightly lower net. I sold out of a few non performers and added Appen, among others. It's a very strong long term trend but the daily has been under pressure for a month or so. The recovery is starting to gather momentum and is pushing through the trend channel and the 50 day moving average. Long at the last price of 927.
The index ground lower all afternoon but held 12 points of gains.
